After smartwatches and mixed-reality glasses, tech sneakers are the next wave of products taking great strides (excuse the pun) in ‘connected’ fashion.
Often sporting futuristic looks, high tech sneakers are infused with smart technology.
The embedded technology allows for self-lacing and state-of-the-art customization, such as face-changing via your smartphone.

Moreover, all collected parameters are available as detailed reports on the MapMyRun application on your smartphone.
9. Under Armour ArchiTech Futurist
ArchiTech Futurist tech sneakers were some of the first shoes with 3D printed heels.

Unfortunately, ArchiTech Futurist were produced in a limited batch and are hard to find right now.

Moreover, these high tech shoes have a unique aesthetic thanks to the tapered spearhead and razor-like heel.
Fitting like a glove, Nike Vaporfly tech shoes, as the name suggests, are designed to create a flying feeling during running.
According to Kyle Barnes, a movement scientist, what makes Vaporfly so efficient is a carbon-fiber plate located in the sole and curved under the front of the shoe.
6. Nike HyperAdapt 1.0
Available for about £500o on Farfetch, these are the most expensive sneakers on my list.
Fully worth it, HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers are an excellent example of high technology.
Designed for high-performance athletes who hate doing their laces every day, these shoes stand out from a mile thanks to their lighting soles.
The most obvious function in these tech sneakers is their self-tying capability.
Smart sensors measure the foot size and adjust accordingly, to the best level of comfort.
The system is battery-powered and can be charged on a wireless plate is approx 2h.
5. Reebok Instapump Fury
The Instapump Fury high tech sneakers are the most advanced running shoes Reebok has ever designed – a label that is famous for its innovative and sustainable sneakers.
The first Instapump Fury was released in 1994 under Rebook’s ‘THE PUMP’ technology.
The rest is history, as these tech sneakers are known as Reebok’s most ambitious project to date.
Nowadays, Instapump Fury is one of the most iconic pair of casual sneakers and a coveted silhouette among sneakerheads.

Following on the successful path carved by Nike Adapt BB 1.0, the second version of these tech sneakers come with the brand’s latest ‘FitAdapt’ technology.
Nike’s FitAdapt innovation allows you to adjust the shoe to your foot, straight from your smartphone.
The level of ‘snugness’ can be changed either via the app or from physical buttons located on the midsoles.
Overall, these tech sneakers deliver a highly comfortable and personalized experience.
According to Nike, there are further firmware updates to be rolled out.
These updates will allow for further improvements relating to flexibility, safety, and more.
The sneakers deliver a highly customized fit thanks to the ultra-responsive cushioning that curves and follow the natural shape of your foot.
3. Puma LQD Cell Origin AR
Puma’s LQD Cell Origin AR sneakers are the first high-tech sneakers to make full use of ‘augmented reality’ technology.
The shoes are entirely covered in 2D QR codes that allow the wearer to experience unique augmented reality environments.
To use the AR feature, you have to download the Puma LQD Cell app from either the App Store or Google Play.
Once downloaded, use the app to scan any QR code that you see on the shoe.
Each code holds a surprise; games, filters, and other fun effects.
“LQD CELL Origin AR is Puma’s answer to a world in which the line between reality and the virtual realm becomes increasingly blurred”, reads Puma’s launching statement.
However, as Puma’s AR sneakers were limited-edition, it is almost impossible to find them on sale.
If you do, please let me know as I’d love to get my hands on this unique piece of footwear history.
