34 Best Online Thrift Stores Of 2021 (The Biggest and The Cheapest)

There’s nothing more satisfying than finding a superb vintage piece in an online thrift store.

Online thrift stores, as the current COVID lockdown has put an end to physical thrifting on local stores.

In this article, I’ll help you get your daily thrift dose, from the safety of your own home.

In no particular order, I’ve put together 35 online thrift stores you can shop for right now.

I have included these online thrift stores on my list for several reasons:

  • Great collections of rare and vintage pieces.
  • Affordable prices.
  • Easiness to purchase online.

Without further delay, these are the best 35 thrift stores online, in 2021!

Depop is very popular with the Millennial and Generation Z audience because it provides a way for them to purchase clothes worn by celebrities they love, and to recycle unwanted items for money.

Another plus to Depop online thrift store is its layout similar to Instagram, giving it a social media feel.

From a small Parisian thrifting store, Vestiaire Collective has expanded its business to a global scale.

Nowadays, the company operates in over 50 countries covering Europe, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Vestiaire Collective provides over 3500 clothing and accessories per week, from shoppers worldwide.

I personally love the company’s innovative shopping services, such as smart email alerting.

This unique feature informs me whether a particular item I am hunting for is listed, and at what price.

I also like the seller interaction service, for further product information and negotiations.

Finally, love the team of highly trained counterfeit experts that check for the authenticity of the items.

5)

Somehow similar to Vestiaire Collective, The RealReal is a brick-and-mortar/online thrift store dedicated to certified luxury consignment.

Based on the circular economy, The RealReal sells consigned clothing, fine jewelry, watches, fine art, and even home decor.

The marketplace employs an in-house staff of experts including horologists, gemologists, art curators, and luxury fashion authenticators who inspect items for authenticity and value.

I have used The RealReal a few times to purchase some authentic vintage accessories for my home and I highly recommend them to you all.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a vintage sweatshirt, the perfect pair of vintage jeans, or one-of-a-kind vintage dresses, ASOS vintage boutiques have done the hard work for you.

I shop quite often at the ASOS thrift store, especially when I need 90s grunge and vintage sportswear edits.

Launched in 2010, High Fashion Society provides a wide range of designer vintage labels and second-hand luxury clothes.

The company’s online marketplace is packed with pre-owned items from top designer brands.

I like the High Fashion Society online thrift store for spending a lot of money in tech to ensure the authenticity of all designer goods.

I shop here many times a year and I find Rebelle to provide a safe and trusting shopping environment.

Moreover, to create a unique shopping experience compared to the average online thrifting stores, REBELLE delivers all products in eco-friendly packaging, with guaranteed delivery of max 48-hours.

10)
Rewind Vintage

Best custom-picked collections from Chanel, Celine, Gucci, and Hermès

WHY WE LOVE IT

“A unique customization service if you wish to personalize your designer handbag!”

Founded in 2010 in the UK, Rewind Vintage is an online thrift store that offers a safe and effortless vintage clothing exchange experience.

Apart from vintage, limited edition, and rare clothes, the store also offers pre-owned accessories, such as luxury handbags and jewelry.

By collaborating with other e-commerce platforms such as Farfetch, Rewind has created an extensive online network for pre-owned luxury products.

However, Rewind experts source, select, buy, sell, and customize all items by themselves.

In this way, the company ensures product quality and protects the privacy of the customers.

I love Rewind for their custom-picked collections from Chanel, Celine, Gucci, and Hermès.

To me, Rewind is a great online thrift store for hard-to-find vintage gems.

Finally, I think that Rewind’s customization service, dedicated to those who wish to personalize their designer handbags is such a clever idea.

The customization service is provided in collaboration with several established and up-and-coming artists.

The shop’s vintage collections are hand-picked by curators seeking to create a modern and yet romantic look.

Think a metropolitan woman, with emphasis on flattering fits, functional designs, and top-quality fabrics.

14)
Tradesy

Best preloved women’s contemporary luxury and designer couture

WHY WE LOVE IT

“The fonder’s dedication alone makes me order from this store, as my way of support for her.”

Tradesy is an online peer-to-peer online thrifting marketplace for buying and selling preloved women’s luxury and designer contemporary couture.

Tradesy was launched in 2009 and ever since is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

DiNunzio, founder and CEO, set out to create a second-hand clothing marketplace where women can sell pre-owned clothes to fund new wardrobes.

She also wanted to give women access to affordable clothes at prices better than what was available in retail stores.

Interesting story – to finance the development of Tradesy, DiNunzio worked at the kitchen table and slept on the couch for a year, while she rented her bedroom on Airbnb.

15)
Flyp

Limited edition used clothing from big fashion names and designers

Flyp online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Connects sellers with independent professional resellers.”

San Francisco-based Flyp is the brainchild of resale-entrepreneur James Kawas.

James realized that most people would engage in trading their old clothes if the selling process was a bit easier.

Hence, this online thrift store for used clothing connects people (well, the clothes they want to sell) with independent professional resellers.

The thrift store accepts good-condition (rip, smell, and stain-free) clothes, shoes, and handbags from all known fashion labels and designer brands.

However, Flyp does not accept non-branded or fast fashion labels such as Forever 21, Zara, and H&M.

I really like Flyp’s top-level security and no upfront costs, knowing I am safe and I won’t be losing my stuff or my money.

16)
Rebag

Exclusive and rare pre-owned purses and designer handbags

Rebag online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Online thrift store dedicated to secondhand designer bags and handbags.”

Rebag is a designer online thrift store dedicated to luxury bags.

The store has in stock every imaginable bag and handbag style, from backpacks to purses and professional totes.

Being a second-hand store for luxury bags, the company puts focus on popular designer brands, including the sustainable fashion darling, Stella Mccartney.

From here, I’ve purchased a couple of vegan handbags that I match with my vegan leather jackets.

Unlike most luxury brands, Stella does not use leather or fur but organic fabrics and low-impact dyes.

From all thrift stores on this list, Rebag is the only one dedicated to reselling secondhand bags and handbags, so make sure you give them a try.

17)
Patagonia Worn Wear

Best gently-used outdoor clothing and gears

Patagonia Worn Wear Online thrift stores

WHY WE LOVE IT

“A dedicated thrift store belonging to the outdoor clothing brand Patagonia.”

Called the online thrift store for adventurers, Worn Wear is the dedicated thrift store belonging to the outdoor clothing brand Patagonia.

This is the thrift store where the American brand sells its gently used clothing for men, women, and kids.

Also here you can find amazing outdoor gear – slightly used, but at discounted prices.

Patagonia’s dedication to environmental welfare reminds me that some (albeit far fewer) brands do put their money where their mouth is.

As Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia’s founder and CEO nicely put it in his business memoir ‘Let My People Go Surfing’:

“Patagonia might never be completely socially responsible. It might never make a fully sustainable and non-damaging product. But, it is committed to trying.”

Through its Ironclad Guarantee, Patagonia repairs its own branded clothing indefinitely, no matter how old they are.

Then, if it can’t be repaired, they’ll recycle it, and put it back on the market via Patagonia’s Worn Wear program.

18)
Beyond Retro

Best online thrift store for different vintage styles

Beyond Retro Online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“One-stop online thrift shop dedicated to rare vintage finds.”

The company is committed to reducing, reusing, and reclaiming discarded clothing and to date, they’ve rescued over 10 billion items.

Love Beyond Retro for its use of eco-friendly packaging and carries an upcycled Reworked collection.

From the 1970s paisley blouse to men’s Hawaiian style button-down, the options here are limitless.

Plus, if you’re in the UK, the delivery is free for orders over £75.

19)
Refashioner

Best online thrift store for authentic vintage fashion

Refashioner online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Loved the fascinating anecdotes attached to the products.”

Launched in 2009, Refashioner is an online marketplace for thrift clothes with a focus on high-quality and genuine vintage garments.

While some of their designer vintage pieces (like those from Miu Miu and Fendi) are – understandably – a bit pricier, most of their vintage clothes are reasonably priced.

Not only that the store stock real vintage (as opposed to fast-fashion marketing ‘vintage’), but they even provide the story behind each piece.

Great second-hand thrifting store, pay attention to the fascinating anecdotes attached to products about something that happened in it, or the most favorite memory of the person who once wore it.

20)
House of Vintage

Best for rare vintage styles that you can’t find anywhere else

House of Vintage online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“The favorite sourcing destination for film and TV stylists.”

First opened in Canada in 2003, nowadays House of Vintage has two shops in East London, as well as the main thrift store operating online.

House of Vintage has a broad range of secondhand clothes you can choose from.

But I find the most appealing the vast and eclectic range of Americana-style T-shirts, shirts, and sweatshirts that sets it apart from most online thrift stores on my list.

Expect logos and prints that look fresh and modern, infused with that superb thrifted look.

I also shop here when I want vintage styles that I would never find on the high street.

This thrift store is the favorite sourcing destination for film and TV stylists – it was one of the two second-hand stores used to create Marianne’s wardrobe, from BBC’s ‘Normal People’ TV series.

21)

Best vintage denim and other similar thrifted pieces

Mirth online thrift store

The store has a large selection of superb second-hand clothing, accessories, and shoes from the early 20th century through the early aughts.

Also, this marketplace for thrifted fashion specializes in vintage denim.

For those in the US, the company has a physical store in Greenpoint, NY.

22)

Best high-quality pre-used clothing alternatives to high street labels

Swap online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Over two million unique thrifted items of second-hand clothing.”

With over two million unique items, you’ll find high-quality pre-used alternatives to high street labels for just about everyone in your family.

Also, orders over $60 come with free shipping, so it’s okay to splurge a little!

Founded in 2017, this is an online thrift store that also runs a physical store in east London – make sure you visit them when the lockdown is over!

The company is home to a wide range of clothing labels, from Asos to Joseph and Isabel Marant.

While most secondhand online stores are home to endless rails requiring hours of trawling to find the real gems, with One Scoop Store is easy – they only sell standout thrifted pieces you can’t find anywhere else.

Prices are super-affordable and you’ll always find some new linchpins for your exquisite wardrobe.

24)
Build a Bundle

Best fancy vintage outfits and one-off buys like Christmas jumpers

Build a Bundle online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“The average price for a whole thrifted outfit is about £20 – a snip compared with the high street.”

Build a Bundle is one of the best online thrift stores if you’re looking for quality second-hand kidswear, for ages newborn to 16.

The store often includes one-off buys such as fancy dress outfits and Christmas jumpers, pieces usually expensive, used once, and then thrown away.

Prices are reasonable and items are shot flat, laid in a very clear way.

The average for a whole outfit is about £20 – a snip compared with the high street.

25)
The Vintage Twin

Best for second-hand vintage varsity jackets

The Vintage Twin online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“An online thrift store with a story you should support.”

Co-founded by twin sisters, Morgan and Samantha Elias in their mom’s basement, this online thrift store sold out the entire vintage tee collection on its launching day.

The sisters started the business by selling second-hand clothes on the school’s campus.

Then, with the little money they’ve made, they went to NYC to open one of the city’s first vintage and thrifted clothes pop-up shops.

I follow their journey and visit their store very often.

I also hope that Vintage Twin will have a large thrifted clothing offering, one day.

Right now, this online store for second-hand apparel is a great place to start, if you’re looking to save the planet and support a better cause.

26)
Still White

Best online store for designer thrifted wedding dresses

Still White online wedding dress reseller

WHY WE LOVE IT

“You can browse by size, style, or even shop by designer names.”

Still White is UK’s largest online thrift store, dedicated exclusively to wedding dresses.

The online shop gives customers the chance to buy and sell their used wedding dresses at a fraction of the usual price.

Think £800 for a Jenny Packham dress that usually retails at well over £3,000.

The store’s smart filters allow you to look for specific dresses, browse by size, style, or even shop by designer names.

Some of the biggest names on this online store for thrifted wedding dresses are Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier.

Sellers will often chat through faults and how the dress has been stored.

They can also give details about alterations and care advice.

27)

Best pre-owned Japanese streetwear brands

2nd Street USA online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Online thrifting marketplace for second-hand clothing and accessories trending in Japan.”

2nd Street USA is an online thrifting marketplace for very fashionable second hand clothing and accessories that are trending in Japan.

I found this place to be one of the best thrift stores especially if you’re looking for unique Japanese streetwear clothes that can’t be found anywhere else.

Also, the store offers great value for money.

Some of my favs on this store are trending Japanese brands such as Bape, Undercover, Comme Des Garcons, Issey Miyake, and many more.

28)
Hood Hippie

Best online thrift store for perfectly worn-in casual wear

Hood Hippie online thrift store 2021

WHY WE LOVE IT

“If you live for margaritas, record stores, coastal life, and chill vibes, this store is for you.”

Hood Hippie is an online store for thrifted clothing, created as a blend of East meets West and a trip through time.

I really love their superb collection designed to effortlessly fuse a wide range of styles and silhouettes.

Imagine that perfectly worn-in concert tee, paired with classic denim or tailored slacks.

Or, breezy bohemian Woodstock-era dresses and funky 90’s surf style button-downs.

To me, the Hood Hippie online store offers a sartorial vision that never tries too hard.

If you live for margaritas, record stores, coastal life, and chill vibes, this store is for you.

29)
Loopster

Best online thrift store for pre-loved kids and baby clothes

Loopster online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Second-hand ‘bulk bundles’ that deliver a better value in the long run.”

Loopster is another great online thrift store for used (pre-loved) kids’ clothes, from newborn to age six.

Some of the most popular labels on Loopster are Petit Bateau, Bonpoint, and JoJo Maman Bébé.

All garments are checked to make sure they are safe, clean, and of ‘sellable’ quality.

The site also sells second-hand ‘bulk bundles’, which, in my opinion, hold a much better value for money in the long run.

If you want to sell on Loopster, order a ‘Loopy clear-out bag’ and send all your unwanted pieces to the site.

Then, you’ll be offered a flat fee for each piece that sells.

Anything that’s not sellable will be returned to you, or you can choose to have them donated to a charity.

30)
Thrift+

Best online thrift store for popular fashion brands

Thrift + online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“The Amazon of secondhand online shopping.”

Hoping to become the Amazon of secondhand online shopping, Thrift+ is all about speed and efficiency.

Hundreds of items are added each day to this online thrifting store.

Also, I have found their delivery times to be really swift.

Combined with the 30-day return policy, this is one of the best stores to experience second-hand clothing, right now.

I also like that Thrift plus as it allows sellers to donate half of their profits to a charity of their choice (from an extensive list).

Some of the most popular brands on this site are Coach, Calvin Klein, and other high street favorites such as Arket and Cos.

31)
WGACA

Best online store for classic handbags

WGACA online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“The go-to online thrift store for celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian.”

Over the last five years, I’ve witnessed how What Goes Around Comes Around is making a name for itself as the best destination for rare vintage finds.

The brand’s first store opened in 1993 in NYC, followed by other locations in Los Angeles, Miami, and East Hampton.

Nowadays, this online thrift store has become the go-to spot for celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian.

I recommend the store if you’re looking to invest in a rare classic handbag or jewelry – of course, at a much lower price than the original retail price.

The store’s online selections of accessories are top-notch, so don’t blame me if you end overspending a bit on that dream bag.

32)
Poshmark

Best online thrift store to sell vintage and thrifted clothes

Poshmark online thrift store

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Posh Parties where sellers with similar items thrifted clothes or themes come together to make selling easier.”

If you’ve ever got rid of a Madewell dress hiding in your closet, you’ve probably used Poshmark.

While the Poshmark app is an easy way to get rid of everyday clothes, the site’s vintage section is incredible.

There you can find everything vintage, from jewelry to hand-knit crochet sweaters.

You can shop vintage on Poshmark in one of two ways: with the help of vintage tags or by following specific sellers whose rare vintage collections you admire.

With over 2 billion users worldwide and almost 25 billion items uploaded per day, you can get lost in the seemingly endless pages of thrift clothes for sale.

The app also hosts Posh Parties where sellers with similar items or themes come together to make selling items easier.

Most Posh Parties feature discounts on previously listed items, and this happens almost every day.

Mercari online thrift store

“Save your searches for later, if you’re not sure what you want, or if you’re not ready to buy yet.”

Similar to Poshmark and Depop, Mercari is a great online thrift store that allows people to resel unwanted or unused clothing via a smartphone app.

With a wide range of secondhand clothing, I have found Mercari’s apps one of the fastest at searching by product ranges, categories, colors, or even by brands.

Moreover, I love that you can save your searches for later, if you’re not sure what you want, or if you’re not ready to buy yet.

  2. This has to be the best list of online thrift stores right now. I used to spend a crazy amount of money on fashion and the latest trends. But, as I have matured, I have realized that it’s not all about looks and wanted to give back. This is how I have discovered thrifting and started to sell and exchange some of my unwanted or even never-worn clothes with others like me. It makes me feel better knowing I did not waste all that money in vain, and also that I am no longer polluting the environment with my waste. Once again, thank you so much for sharing this article, it really helped me a lot in my quest for new online stores for thrifting and vintage fashion. Well done WTVOX, you guys are the best!

  3. Hello from England.

Thank you for writing this article and highlighting the great work which so many retailers are doing to bring sustainable and recycled fashion to the masses. I would also like to highlight White Rose Recycled Fashion in the UK, selling handpicked trendy recycled fashion online and in 9 stores around the midlands. At White Rose, we infuse our passion for fashion with our care for people and the planet, creating a fun and sustainable shopping experience which ensures you look amazing, spend less and make a positive difference.

We’re driven by a distinct purpose to reduce fast fashion’s impact on the environment, reduce textile waste, and encourage our customers to make kinder choices when it comes to purchasing and re-purposing clothing. Our circular fashion model means we disregard the corporate ‘take-make-dispose’ pattern and ensure fashion garments are worn for as long as they can be and then transformed through upcycling and recycling after that.

Thank you for sharing this with your readers – please include our website in your great article 🙂

Some say that the largest online thrift store right now is thredUP, is that true?

  5. Oh, so I had no idea that you shop thrift stores online until this article.
Now I see that one of the major advantages of shopping online is that you can search for that specific thing you’re looking for. I’ve also realized that many online thrift stores will let you filter your search by color, size, brand, and price point to find something matching your exact criteria.
