They can work in a classic, Old Money-inspired look when you choose plain leather designs and wear them with the right clothes.
They are worth the price if the fit suits your feet and you want a clean, low-profile trainer; they are not a status symbol, and price alone does not tell you how long a shoe will last.

Lacoste’s brand heritage is genuine, as the company was founded in 1933 by tennis champion René Lacoste and industrialist André Gillier, and Lacoste says it made its first tennis shoe in 1958.
Heritage is a reason to like a brand, but it does not make a particular pair of shoes better made.
Four Lacoste designs for a classic look
Lacoste renames and updates its shoes often, so some models below may now be sold only by other retailers or second-hand.
Carnaby
The Carnaby is a low white leather trainer with a contrasting heel tab, in the style of a classic tennis shoe.
The Carnaby Evo shown here was not listed on Lacoste’s US site on 6 October 2026, where the Carnaby Cup Leather was $110.
A Philippine Daily Inquirer buying guide from 2022, which did not test the shoes, described the Carnaby Evo as having a narrow fit, so try a pair on before you buy.

Concours driving loafers
The Concours is a leather driving loafer with a tassel and a studded rubber sole.
It was not on Lacoste’s US site on 6 October 2026, where the brand’s suede Cochet loafers were $125.
Driving loafers are soft, unstructured casual shoes, so they suit summer weekends with chinos or linen trousers rather than a suit.
The studded sole wears quickly on pavements, which matters if you plan to walk long distances in them.
Chaymon
The Chaymon is a slim, low-profile leather trainer with a stripe along the side and a small crocodile.
On 6 October 2026, the Chaymon leather trainer was $135 on Lacoste’s US site and the suede version was $155.
Its slim shape looks neater with tapered trousers than a chunky trainer, though the same 2022 buying guide noted a narrow toe box.
Bayliss
The Bayliss is a plain lace-up leather trainer with a nautical feel.
On 6 October 2026, the Bayliss Leather was $135 on Lacoste’s US site and a version with a perforated collar was $98.
Navy or white versions with plain soles are the easiest to wear with smart-casual clothes in warm weather.
What you get for the price
The Chaymon product page, for example, lists a leather upper with some polyurethane, a polyester lining and insole, and a mainly rubber outsole.
We have not visited Lacoste’s factories or tested the shoes, so we cannot give a lifespan in years.
In general, a trainer’s life depends on how often you wear it, the surfaces you walk on and how you care for it, more than on the logo.
If you want shoes that can be resoled for many years, look at Goodyear-welted or Blake-stitched leather shoes from specialist shoemakers instead, which usually cost more.
Are Lacoste shoes Old Money?
“Old Money” is a style label for classic, understated clothing, not a list of approved brands and not a sign of wealth, as our Old Money style guide explains.
A plain white or navy leather trainer with a small logo fits that look; a design with a large logo, a bold stripe or a chunky sole fits it less well.
The visible crocodile means Lacoste is not strictly quiet luxury, which usually means little or no branding.
No pair of shoes tells other people about your income, background or taste, so choose them because they fit and suit your clothes.

Keep leather trainers clean and use shoe trees or stuff them with paper after wet days, so they keep their shape.
Lacoste shoes compared with similar brands
Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger sell trainers in a similar price band, while specialist makers such as Tod’s, better known for driving loafers, charge more.
At this level, fit, comfort and the shape of the shoe usually matter more than the brand, so try several on.
A trainer with a fully leather upper and lining will often feel and age differently from one that uses polyurethane and polyester, so read the materials before you compare prices.
